What is a Tilt Grading Bucket?

A tilt grading bucket is a versatile excavator attachment designed for levelling material on an 45 degree angle. Unlike traditional excavator buckets, a tilt grading bucket features hydraulic mechanisms that allow it to tilt both left and right. Most commonly used in landscaping projects, they offer precision and control during grading tasks, so you can level uneven surfaces, create slopes or sculpt landscapes from a flat platform. The tilt grading bucket is especially useful for landscapers of golf courses, lakes and extensive yard projects to carve out complex shapes and grade sloped areas.

Can you use a Tilt Grading Bucket with a Quick Coupler?

Yes, you can use a tilt grading bucket with a quick coupler. Fitting your tilting bucket to a quick coupler will allow you to mount your attachment much quicker and easier, saving valuable downtime when on the job. However, when using a tilt grading bucket on a quick coupler, it's important to bear in mind that the breakout force may be slightly reduced compared to using a direct pin attachment. Although, for light levelling and profiling jobs, this reduction in breakout force shouldn't pose a significant issue. The versatility and precision offered by the tilt grading bucket outweighs any minor decrease in breakout force, especially when paired with the convenience of a quick coupler. Operators can still achieve excellent results in shaping and grading terrain efficiently, making the combination of a tilt grading bucket and quick coupler an ideal choice for a wide range of construction and landscaping applications.

Tilt Grading Bucket Wear Protection and Bolt on Blade

Heavy Duty Construction

The Rhinox tilt bucket is renowned for its heavy-duty, durable construction, with this reputation being owned by the engineering of its wear plates, reinforced leading edge, and robust center web. The wear plates and reinforced leading edge are strategically designed to add an additional layer of protection to the high impact areas of the bucket, ensuring its longevity even when grading harsh materials. The robust center web reinforces the bucket's core, providing exceptional strength and stability, ensuring the structural integrity of the bucket remains unharmed. This makes the Rhinox tilt grading bucket an essential attachment for any landscaper.

Although the Rhinox tilting bucket is made with a heavy duty construction to withstand wear over time, this doesn't detract from the fact that this bucket is NOT designed for harsh digging or demolition work. If you chose to use the bucket in this way, you will likely damage your hydraulics and tilting function leaving your bucket with an expensive repair job.

Tilt Grading Bucket ram & Hoses

Rams

The benefit of the Rhinox tilt grading bucket is the ability to tilt the bucket 45 degrees left and right, allowing the operator to work on slopes and uneven terrain more efficiently. This function is accomplished by the inbuilt rams, which work with the hydraulics to tilt the bucket. The Rhinox tilt grader is manufactured with a single or dual ram mechanism, depending on the size of your bucket, to give you the greatest flexibility so you can get the right angle for your finishing job.

Hydraulics & Hoses

Working alongside the rams are the hydraulics and hydraulic hoses. The Rhinox tilt grading bucket connects to the same hydraulic connections as a standard excavator thumb making it quick and easy to fit when ready to use. All Rhinox tilt grading buckets come fitted with the hydraulic hoses that connect the ram to the headstock, however we do not provide the hoses required to connect the headstock to the excavator arm. Every excavator has different hose requirements, so you will need to source the necessary hydraulic hoses for your machine make and model from your local hydraulics specialist.

Lip Plate & Bolt-on Wear Blade

Similarly to your standard grading bucket, the lip plate of your tilt grading bucket will wear down over time. To help slow this wear and extend the lifetime of your bucket, the Rhinox tilt bucket comes fit with a replaceable bolt-on wear blade as standard. A wear blade is designed to protect your lip plate from wearing back, in turn protecting your bucket welds. Once one side of your bolt-on blade has worn back in line with the edge of your bucket, you can remove it, spin it round and refit it to continue the wear protection.

Data Plate on the Rhinox Tilt Grading Bucket

Data Plate

As with all Rhinox excavator buckets and attachments, our tilt grading bucket comes fitted with an identification data plate. This plate is usually located on the top of the bucket, around the hangers, and provides you with the weight of the attachment and the capacity to give you confidence that you have the right attachment for your machine and allows you to work within your machine specifications.

In conclusion, the Rhinox tilt grading bucket truly stands out. Its innovative design, featuring a ram that tilts 45 degrees in both directions, provides unmatched accuracy and precision, making it an invaluable tool for any job site. With added wear protection, it ensures a longer lifespan, saving you time and money in the long run. And the inclusion of a data plate further demonstrates Rhinox's commitment to longevity. For those seeking superior performance and durability in their attachments, the Rhinox tilt grading bucket is a great choice.
