What is a manual quick hitch?
The manual quick hitch is most commonly used with construction machines to allow the rapid change of buckets and attachments. They remove the requirement to use hammers to manually drive out and insert the pins for each attachment.
The Rhinox Manual Quick Hitch is one of the most efficient ways to change digger buckets and attachments on a mini digger or excavator. Available for most common 0.75 to 3-ton machines (25mm pin up to 35mm pin), bucket changes can be as quick as taking a safety pin out and using a lever to open the latch, allowing your bucket to be un-hooked. The improved Rhinox Quick Hitch composition embodies industry leading designs, following extensive research, and maximises the best features to create a new, innovate piece of equipment to make attachment changes quicker and more efficient.
Rhinox Quick Hitch features:
- Made From Hardened Steel (for durability)
- Heavy Duty Design (for strength and safety)
- Hi-vis Latch (gives clear visibility when latch is engaged)
- Captive Safety Pin (can’t be disconnected from the machine, so can’t be lost)
- Includes Pins & Spacer Shims (ensure a snug fit to machine)
- Low Profile Design (maximises arm extension and increases breakout force)
- CE Certified (meet EU health & safety requirements)

Rhinox Quick Hitch Machine Installation:
Benefits of a Quick Hitch
An excavator operator may change a bucket up to 30 times a day in order to maximise the machine productivity. Utilising a quick hitch to quickly and efficiently disconnect and reconnect buckets and attachments from the dipper arm further assists the maximisation of the machine, therefore assisting the operator in productivity.
Using a Quick Hitch not only saves time and money, but it can also help protect your machine against unnecessary wear and tear, such as knocking pins in and out using a hammer, as the latch and spring system allows for almost effortless removal. A Quick Hitch also helps to reduce the wear on your bucket and tipping links as they are subdued to a reduced amount of intense force, therefore maximising their lifespan.
Combining strength, durability and safety, the Rhinox hitch contains a number of features which minimise the risk of any harm being caused during operation, as well as providing a robust design to maximise the product lifetime.
These features include:
- Heavy duty coupler construction
- Hi-vis Latch gives clear visibility when latch is engaged
- Captive safety pin prevents it getting lost or damaged
- Engaging parts are heat treated to 400HB to maximise wear resistance
- Fully greaseable latch
Utilising a quick hitch on a mini digger can cause the breakout force to be slightly reduced due to the extra length added by the additional piece of equipment. Breakout force is the amount of power exerted by the dipper arm and it affects the strength and performance of the arm while in use. This means that the operator must be careful not to strike the machine while operating if they are using a quick hitch. In order to help battle this potential operating issue, the Rhinox Quick Hitch is a low-profile design, which helps to increase the overall breakout force. Unless you have a very large attachment on the machine, you are less likely to catch the machine with the attachment anyway.
Another problem that might occur is the quick hitch might fail if an attachment that is incorrectly sized for the machine is attempted to be attached. If the locking system is not in place, the quick hitch might not connect or suddenly swing open during use, releasing the bucket or attachment.

Should I fit a quick hitch to my mini digger?
People seem to think that there is no real need to fit a quick hitch to a mini digger or a mini excavator. This is because the buckets are generally not very big or heavy, and it is possible for the buckets to be man handled into place. This, however, is not advised. The 36” grading bucket for example is around 45kg. While that is a manageable, the HSE say that 30% of all injuries during manual handling occur at 25kg+.

Rhinox Customer Product review
“Fantastic product, fits perfectly. Well made. Made my life ten times easier!” - Jackeline Mitchell
“Fantastic service! The fit is exact, the build quality exceeds my expectations and instructions are clear. Good company, good service and good product.” – John W Crowell
“It all fit together perfectly. It used to take me 20 to 40 minutes to change buckets. That fact alone would keep me from using the right bucket for the job. The first time to change buckets took me approximately 2 minutes! It took longer to drive Over to the other bucket than it did to hook up.” – Harley Joe
